Emergency response to a failed power system in Wawakapewin First Nation

The loss of power for Wakakapewin FN on Christmas Eve has threatened the safety of the community, not least through the disabling of the water system infrastructure.

The two main challenges have been community safety and the logistics of procuring, installing and commissioning a new generator in the remote Nation. Despite the geographical isolation, socio-cultural connectivity shows that while the communities might be 'remote', they are never alone.
